Explanation of Matthew 28:19
Matthew 28:19 is part of what is often called the Great Commission. After His resurrection, Jesus gave His followers a clear command: to go and make disciples of all nations.
This verse shows that the message of Jesus is not limited to one place, one people, or one culture. The gospel is for the whole world. Jesus sends His disciples out with a mission to share the good news, teach others to follow Him, and welcome believers into the life of faith through baptism.
The command to “make disciples” is more than simply telling people about Jesus. It means helping people come to faith, grow in truth, and learn to live as followers of Christ. Discipleship involves teaching, encouragement, obedience, and a life shaped by Jesus.

Matthew 28:19 reminds us that faith is not meant to be kept hidden. Jesus calls His followers to share the gospel and help others know Him.
This mission may feel big, but it begins with simple obedience. We can point others to Christ through our words, our love, our actions, our prayers, and our willingness to serve. Not everyone is called to travel far away, but every believer is called to be faithful where God has placed them.
Making disciples is not about pride, pressure, or winning arguments. It is about lovingly helping others see, know, and follow Jesus. It is a call to live with purpose, compassion, and courage.
